Following is an explanation of the secure order process that we use at Himalayafineart.com:
When you use your credit card to place an order on-line, the information is encrypted right at your PC, long before it ever reaches the Internet. Our order processing system only accepts information from secure browsers (such as Chrome, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox). These browsers encrypt the information they send using a networking protocol called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) which scrambles the data so that this information cannot be read as it travels through the Internet. Thus, before your information ever leaves your PC, it is encrypted and protected by our security measures.
Only those web pages where you actually enter your credit card and billing information pass encrypted information. When you request one of these checkout screens, the page’s URL begins with https instead of http, and the “security” icon on your browser has the appearance of a closed padlock.
Himalaya Fine Art, like all companies that sell through an online store, maintains a list of current and potential customers. Our site collects your IP Address, browser type, page referrer data, name, billing address, shipping address, e-mail address, phone number and PIN code. We do our best not to mail unnecessarily to current and prospective customers who do not want to receive emails. Unsolicited and unwanted emails are very costly to us. We really appreciate your help in avoiding duplicate accounts and unwanted mailings.
When a customer enters their shipping and billing information and clicks ‘Submit This Order’ to complete the order, our site sets another cookie. This cookie contains the billing address (and the shipping address if a separate one is used) that the customer used. It does not contain any credit card information. This cookie is set to expire December 30th of the calendar year following the year the order is placed. If the customer returns to the store from the same computer within this time, this site will detect and read the cookie and the customer will not have to re-enter the address information. If cookies are disabled in a customer’s browser, this “memory” feature will not be available to that customer.
